ProCom and FASSI take Lift!

Process Components Limited (ProCom) became an official distributor of FASSI Gru S.p.A cranes in Trinidad and Tobago in June 2016. The latest addition to the company's product offering keeps in line with its goal of supplying total solutions to the industrial, oilfield and energy sector.

Laughlin further stated, "The brand FASSI has an existing high reputation amongst the industry personnel within Trinidad's lifting community. The arrival of the F295 and F660 cranes shows that there is a demand for high quality lifting assets."

ProCom partners with R&M Materials

Process Components Limited (ProCom) is pleased to announce its exclusive partnership with R&M Materials Handling, Inc. in Trinidad and Tobago. R&M's lifting equipment will be integrated into ProCom's expansive Rigging portfolio.

"R&M's industry leading line of hoists and components is an excellent fit to ProCom's already expansive industrial and rigging products portfolio", said Sean Corson, R&M's Director of Sales for Latin America and the Caribbean. "We are excited to partner with such a well renowned company to expand R&M's presence in Trinidad and Tobago, and the Caribbean region".

ProCom's distribution will focus on R&M's wire rope hoists; overhead manual and electric chain hoists. R&M's wire rope hoists with a maximum lifting capacity of ½ - 80 tonne, ease of operation and overall less maintenance are the ideal solution for light to medium manufacturing, warehousing and oil & gas processing.

R&M is the #1 choice in the Americas for wire rope hoists and according to Paul de Verteuil, Project and Operations Manager at ProCom, "Specialized lifting equipment is needed for many of the projects ProCom undertakes, this is why we've already commenced the installation of an R&M Spacemaster SX wire rope hoist at our Pt. Lisas facility."

Facelift for Exchange RC Primary School

During the July / August 2017 annual vacation, Process Components Ltd. (ProCom) assisted in the refurbishment effort to upgrade the Exchange RC Primary School.

ProCom donated the paint for the project which focused on repainting the exterior walls of the school's building. The school, which has a student population of 280 students, was last painted 5 years ago.

Christopher Marquis, Principal (Ag) expressed his gratitude to ProCom's CEO, Mark Laughlin for supporting this initiative: "This is the second time ProCom has willingly given to the children of Couva; I'm immensely satisfied with their attitude towards our humble school".

ProCom Turns 35!

ProCom celebrated its 35th anniversary by hosting an afternoon retreat for staff at the San Salvador Conference Centre in Gran Couva, on Friday 21st April.

A relaxed, informal event, a brief history and timeline of the company's progress over the years was presented. Mark Laughlin, CEO of Process Components Ltd. highlighted that one of the pillars of any organization is the loyal, hard-working and dedicated employees and expressed his appreciation to all staff for their years of service and commitment to ProCom.

During the evening period, staff participated in many various outdoor and fun filled activities. Others relaxed at the open bar while the chef prepared a tasty on-site BBQ. Local delicacies were also served.

ProCom Acquires FT Farfan's Rigging Division

"This is a strategic move that will immediately propel ProCom as the unrivalled leader in the Rigging Supply business in Trinidad". So said Mark Laughlin, CEO of Process Components Limited (ProCom), as he explained the logic behind the significant acquisition which became effective on March 31st, 2016 at his Pt. Lisas office. Signing on behalf of FT Farfan Limited was Alan Fitzwilliam, Managing Director and Derek Cumming, Director - Industrial Group.

According to Laughlin, ProCom's Rigging customers can expect to receive an enhanced service and added value from the acquisition which included all the assets of FT Farfan's Rigging Division.

"We are excited because of the tremendous potential that exists in the Industry. This, coupled with our commitment to integrity, innovation and performance, makes us confident that this transaction will enable ProCom to continue to distinguish itself and meet the needs of our stakeholders better than before. Additionally, we will be welcoming six (6) of Farfan's top performing staff who will complement our already proven and talented team."

When asked about this significant investment during a "recession", Laughlin was optimistic about the future of his company. "We see this time as an opportunity to invest in our business and it has been proven that companies that master the delicate balance between cutting costs to survive today and investing to grow tomorrow are amongst the most successful".

ProCom Celebrates Occupational, Safety and Health Week (OSH) 2016

Safety doesn't happen by accident. On Thursday, April 28th, ProCom celebrated OSH Week 2016 by hosting a Safety Fair for the very first time on its compound. This open forum was used as a platform to further educate and nurture the growth of the HSE culture within the organisation.

Staff, clients and the public were invited to experience the Seat Belt Convincer. The Seat Belt Convincer is an easy-to-use educational tool that allows drivers to experience force, up to 5 times their body weight, similar to that of a 5-7 mph crash.

Lectures on fire safety and demonstrations featuring the life saving tools and techniques used by firefighters, including the Jaws of Life, were presented by the T&T Fire Service.

ProCom is DNV GL Certified

ProCom's Rigging Division is the local pioneer for achieving internationally recognized DNV certification.

The acquisition of DNV 2.7-1 type approval is for the manufacturing of wire rope lifting sets for offshore containers or portable offshore units. The company received news of approval on April 20th, 2015.

This certification brings an added value to the local Oil and Gas sector and raises the industry standards to the highest level when it comes to providing DNV 2.7-1 slings sets for Offshore Containers and Portable offshore units.

The design and manufacture of sling sets to DNV 2.7-1 introduces higher redundancy factors and less risk for the end users, which increases the level of safety during lifting and cargo handling operations.

STOW Certification Renewed For 2 Years

On April 1, 2015, ProCom's STOW Certification was renewed for an additional two years. A 5-day extensive audit of ProCom's processes and procedures was undertaken to ensure compliance with STOW requirements.

ProCom's average re-certification score of 97%, revealed a 4% increase from the previous score, which boldly emphasizes and showcases its dedication and ongoing commitment to maintaining and surpassing industry standards.

ProCom scored full marks in several elements of the re-certification audit, including Legal Requirements and Document Control, Security, Health and Hygiene and Environmental Management. Top scores were also awarded in the other categories.

Upon receiving the STOW certificate, ProCom's CEO, Mark Laughlin, reiterated his company's policy towards STOW, concluding "There is always room for improvement but to have achieved this rating, all staff must be highly commended as this was indeed a team effort."

ProCom participates in Energy Trade Show

For the second consecutive year, ProCom participated in the T&T Energy Conference and Tradeshow held during the period Jan 26 - 28, 2015.

ProCom's booth at the Hyatt Regency Hotel showcased demonstrations from two featured products. Both items were well received by visitors to the booth; a Barco Ball Joint Machine from Hyspan and a MPC Series Choke from NOV.

Many were intrigued by the mechanics and design of the products on display thus enabling our representatives to explain and deliver their presentations to a receptive audience.

Visitors to the booth were also given the opportunity to win a Samsung tablet, which was won by Mr. Shurlan Griffith. Congratulations to Mr. Griffith, whose name was selected in the random draw.

ProCom goes Hardcore!

Development of our staff, both mental and physical, is paramount to the general well-being of our organisation. Hence, ProCom encourages participation in extra-curricular activities such as this one.

On Sunday August 10th, 2014, seven (7) of our staff members proudly represented the organisation at the annual Hardcore Obstacle Course challenge in Santa Cruz. With very little training and no prior experience, the guys completed all thirty (30) challenges despite the pouring rain and ankle-deep mud.

ProCom participates in Energy Trade Show

Process Components Limited participated in the Trinidad and Tobago Energy Conference & Tradeshow which was held at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad from February 3rd to 5th, 2014.

Through this exhibition, ProCom's booth received many visitors and enquires for various products as the company sought to raise its profile and brand influence.

Prominently displayed at the booth were a JXT 3 Subsea Unit from FMC Technologies Inc. and an Electric FXA Model Pump Skid from CheckPoint Pumps & Systems. Both units were shipped in from abroad exclusively for display at the Tradeshow.

ProCom Receives Stow Certification

On Thursday 13th January, 2014, Process Components Limited (ProCom) was granted STOW certification from the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago. ProCom's 5-day audit was conducted during the month of October 2013, following which, notification was received that the Company was in compliance with STOW requirements with scores as follows:

  • Total score for Documentation and Records93%

  • Physical condition of Facilities 90%

Mark Laughlin, CEO, ProCom, stated "I am extremely pleased with the outcome. Our team worked arduously to ensure that our Company's processes and procedures were in compliance with the requirements of the audit." He added that the certification placed ProCom in a more competitive position within the industry as they continue to service the Energy sector.

"The adoption of STOW changed the philosophy of safety at ProCom to focus on proactive prevention activities rather than the activation of an emergency plan after an accident has occurred", said Wilman Castillo, then QHSE Manager. He added "Having STOW in place helps to identify and control potential hazards in the workplace and minimize the probability of accidents. At the same time, this promotes good business for our customers."

ProCom is the local agent for FMC Technologies

Process Components Ltd. is the local agent for FMC Wellheads in Trinidad. The agreement between the two parties was signed in 2006 after several discussions and meetings between the two Companies.

FMC Technologies is one of the major wellhead suppliers globally, and has been operating in Trinidad for a number of years. "We are no stranger to the Trinidad Market", said Robert Booker, FMC's Latin Amercia Sales Manager "we just need the additional local support and ProCom certainly has the knowledge and experience to make a difference to our operations in Trinidad."

The partnership of FMC and ProCom recently announced their success in securing a three year wellhead contract with BG Trinidad & Tobago Limited, an agreement covering both BG's NCMA and ECMA acreages.
